I just wanted to remind everyone about our meet up next Wednesday!  It is going to be a great event with some great sponsors!

Six Ways to Use Social Media to Build Your Brand & Business

Marijean Jaggers, VP at Standing Partnership in C’ville, presents Six Ways to Use Social Media to Build Your Brand and Your Business. This is a joint event with the Social Media Club of Charlottesville.

When:  November 18th

Where:  Open Space CoWorking (455 2nd Street SE, Suite 100, Charlottesville)

Time:  7:00 – 9:00

Please RSVP to me (info@cvilleentremom.com) or on the Facebook invitation page.

I would love to give a big THANK YOU to our sponsors for this event:  Open Space CoWorking and Standing PR.

Also, if  you were not able to make it to the “Women In Technology” panel at UVA’s Darden School, you missed a fantastic event.  I learned so much from the other panelists there.  If you’d like to watch the video, grab a cup of joe (or glass of wine.. depending on the time of day) and enjoy!

Great New Resource for Entremoms {OpenSpace CoWorking}

Friday, October 16th, 2009

OpenSpace, a new place to work, collaborate, conference and create community.

Charlottesville is a great place to live, work and play. It is full of people with an entrepreneurial spirit and it is a town where professionals thrive on socializing and connecting with other community members.

However, those without traditional office space are forced to work in isolation at home, from our cars, our local coffee shops, or on the Downtown Mall.. most of us wishing we had room to work and a way to find others like us.

As of October 1st, the wishing can stop. After months of anticipation, OpenSpace is here with a welcome alternative.

OpenSpace provides users with spacious worktables, high-speed wireless internet, business needs such as printing, faxing, and all of the comforts of home or a coffee shop. By partnering with local companies for snacks, drinks, coffee and catering, OpenSpace is building its own community and supporting local vendors.

OpenSpace also provides several styles of conference and collaborative studios to host meetings and events, complete with staff to help plan and coordinate.

Late last year, Jeff Gunther (CEO), an entrepreneur with two Charlottesville-based technology firms, Meddius and Intalgent, had an idea to provide the Charlottesville community a space that would meet the needs of the new economy’s independent professionals. A year later, the idea has been realized in the warehouse district a quick walk from the Downtown Mall.

A pay as you go plan and discounted monthly membership options allow users the flexibility to customize how they use the space, whether working alone, with colleagues, or making presentations to clients. Best of all, under our introductory pricing the first month of any membership or any first non-profit event is FREE with the payment of a nominal sign up fee. No long term commitment is required.

Get OpenSpace, and find your new room to work! (http://getopenspace.com)

Guest columnist Nikki Haffey is Director for OpenSpace.  You can find out more information on their website or contact Nikki at hello@getopenspace.com.  C’Ville Entremom and the Social Media Club of Charlottesville will be partnering with OpenSpace to host a seminar led by Marijean Jaggers of Standing PR and STLWorkingMom on “Using Social Media to Market Your Business.”  The event will take place on November 18th, 2009 at 7:00.  Looking forward to expanded networking with all 3 groups.  A bit thanks to Nikki and Jeff for allowing us to use their new space.

The Power of Networking {C’Ville Entremom-style} & Some Announcements.

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

The most exciting part about getting to know this great group of women is learning about the great businesses in the area and the services that they offer.  Over the last couple of months, I’ve met some wonderful ladies.. all through networking.  That being said, without ever having seen the venue, I decided to have my daughter’s 4th Birthday at Explorations Play Studio in Charlottesville.  Nicole Root, owner of Explorations Play Studio, took the reins and planned my daughter’s party for me.  Get this.. all I had to do was bring the cake!  Woot!  After 3 years of hosting her parties at my house, this was such a welcome change.  You can check out Nicole’s write up here.  Another plus in the networking department…  Nicole gets to use the pictures I took from Trudy’s BDay party on her site!  How cool is that?

On a side note, I have some exciting announcements and additions to the blog!  First of all, our next meet up is one that I’m really looking forward to.  I’ve had a lot of the Entremoms ask me about teaching them how to use Twitter and Facebook to market their business.  I am, by no means, an expert BUT… I know people who are.  So join us for our next meet up (BTW, we are going to go to an every other month meet up schedule going forward!):

When:  November 18th @ 7:00 pm

Where:  Openspace CoWorking, 455 2nd Street SE, Suite 100 Charlottesville

Event Details:  Marijean Jaggers of Standing PR and Stl. Working Mom (PS. She’s also Mrs. CBS Blog of the week queen) will discuss using Social Media to market your business.

The event is free and sponsered by OpenSpace CoWorking, C’Ville Entremom & Standing PR.

Announcement #2:  We have invited some guest columnists to join us in writing about topics they know best.  Look out for our 1st feature later this week from one of our own C’Ville Entremoms!

And, you know me.. It’s not a good blog post without some pics.  Here are some captures from Trudy’s party at Explorations Play Studio!

Hi All!

First of all, I want to give a great big Thank You to Mary Beth who wrote the last 2 features in my absence!  Thank you so much for stepping in during my time of chaos!  I really appreciate it and love having someone else on board to help spread the word about C’Ville Entremom.

Secondly, we finally scheduled the August Meet & Greet.  Sorry for the late, late notice.  I hope that all of you Entremoms out there can make it!  Here are the details:

What:  August C’Ville Entremom Meet & Greet

Where:  Horse & Hound Gastropub (Entremom-owned!!)
625 West Main Street
Charlottesville, VA

When:  Wednesday, August 26th

Time:  7:00

Bring your business cards, samples of you work, friends, etc.

Also, I’m looking for new RepMoms to feature for September (think Pampered Chef, etc.)  Please forward any contacts that you have that may be interested in a feature!  Our September meet up will spotlight RepMoms and their goodies!

In the mean time, here are some pics from my recently trip to NYC.  I spend and evening walking around NYC, both above and below ground.  I love all that NYC has to offer a photographer.  It’s like being a kid in a candy store!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Hello C’ville!  I’m so proud to announce that we had a very successful meet up last Wednesday at Siips on the downtown mall.  Around 20 Entremoms showed up to network and talk a little about their business.  I got to meet some great new Entremoms that are a welcome addition to the group!  I’m looking forward to our next meet up that will take place sometime in late August or early September!  Keep an eye out for the date & venue!

On another note, I will be away for the next week and a half and after that will be moving into a new place (very excited that our house finally sold, but only have 2 weeks to find a new place.. Here are some pictures from the 1st Meet & Greet!  Thank you all for making it a success!
