Feel Comfortable In Your Skin {The Skin Clinic of Virginia}
Beverly “Bev” Sidders and I met last year; she did a laser treatment on red capillaries in my face and legs and recommended some fabulous products (like the C E Ferulic acid, which has become a part of my daily routine). When C’ville Entremom launched, she was one of the first people I thought of for a feature.
Bev, mother of 6-year-old Samantha and 4-year-old Cole, opened The Skin Clinic of Virginia in Spring 2008. According to her, “after years of basking in the sun, my skin looked 20 years older than my chronological age.” So, shortly after moving back to Charlottesville from California (she has a B.A. from UVA and a MBA from UC Berkley), she earned her degree in Occupational Science: Esthetic Science, and became a licensed Master Esthetician in the state of Virginia.
Bev and her staff work closely with clients to develop customized treatment plans for each skin type and help keep us looking beautiful while we’re all fighting the fun process called aging. One look at Bev’s skin and you’ll be a believer.
The Skin Clinic of Virginia offers a free initial consultation, giving clients a chance to interact with staff members and learn about the treatment options available before making a decision. They accept only a certain number of clients in order to give everyone the personal attention they deserve and offer a generous reward system for long-standing clients. In addition, they allow you to book appointments online for confidentiality purposes.
The Skin Clinic offers only the safest, most effective, FDA-approved services. A sample of these include:
- Laser Resurfacing/Laser Treatments for sun damage, pigment, wrinkles, melasma, scarring, leg/facial veins and skin tightening.
- BOTOX® Cosmetic /Dermal Fillers to plump up fine lines and wrinkles or have those voluptuous lips you’ve always wanted.
- Laser Hair Removal for beard bumps, excessive/unwanted hair growth or purely the convenience of not having to shave every morning.
- Chemical Peels to accelerate cell renewal, stimulate collagen, and improve elastin, revealing a more radiant complexion.
- Microdermabrasion to treat skin imperfections such as blemishes, pigmentation, scarring, wrinkles, large pores, etc. by gently exfoliating the skin’s dead outer layers.
- Signature Facial using products specifically chosen for the client’s skin type. (I actually booked one this morning.)
In addition to these services, they offer products to help with everything from acne and wrinkles to eyelash lengthening and sun protection. They carry no particular line – just the staff’s favorites and the ones that are recommended most to customers.
So what’s the secret to Bev’s work/life balance? She makes the most of her time at work and then reserves her free time with the kids. Owning her own business also allows her to be flexible with her hours if needed.
The Skin Clinic of Virginia is located at 1011 E. Jefferson Street, Suite 204 (above Pediatrics Associates’ downtown office for those of you who have children who go there). For a free initial consultation, visit www.skinclinicofvirginia.com or call (434) 977.4100.
