C'ville Entremom

Have you (or your kids) been watching “So You Think You Can Dance” this Summer?  Do you laugh and think “Ha!  I can do better than that?”  Well C’Ville, head on down to Dance Explosion and show them who’s boss!

Dance Explosion offers lessons in all types of dance:  jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, modern, ballroom and Latin.. just to name a few.  Centrally located on Commonwealth Drive, Dance Explosion offers programs for all ages, children and adults alike.  The studio strives to provide technically proper body alignment and age-appropriate movements in a nurturing, family atmosphere.  Their goal is to bring out the best in their students and help them to reach their full potential.

Lea Moore, owner and instructor, founded Dance Explosion Studio 4 years ago when she found a need in the Charlottesville market for a higher quality of dance training for both children as well as adults.  Lea is a trained dancer and boasts a BA from George Mason University.  She has a strong background in jazz, lyrical, classical ballet, hip-hop and tap.  Prior to moving to Charlottesville, she choreographed for and participated on dance teams in the NBA and AFL, co-taught with lead instructors for major dance organizations (Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of America, Dance Olympics and Dance Caravan) and choreographed and co-produced musical productions in public schools.  In August 2006, Lea was contact by Cirque du Soleil to provide a contemporary class to their dancers the day of the show at JPJ.  How cool is that?

So how does Lea juggle raising her girls (ages 6 and 4) and running a dance studio?  Lea is a self-proclaimed multi-tasker.  She has a wonderful staff that works independently of her.  She also involves her children in the studio as much as she can.  Lea mostly markets her business on-line and in various publications around town, but says that most of her clients are referrals from satisfied clients.

A Note From Entremom:  I admit it, I’ve been obsessed with Broadway my whole life.  I’ve seen over 40 shows on Broadway in NYC.  I moved to NYC after graduation from college with the hope of somehow working on Broadway, but in reality, I had no voice training and no dance training.  Can you say pipe dream??  I ended up becoming a fashion buyer.  My biggest regret growing up is that I never had dance training.  So how excited am I to see that Dance Explosion offers Broadway Dance training to teens & adults!  Lea.. sign me up.  I’m going to be a star! (Shaking Fosse jazz hands as I type!)  Who is signing up with me??
